The rules of Mega Evolution

In the game rules, they are treated like normal Basic, Stage 1, or Stage 2 Pokémon and bear the inscription “The Mega-Evolved Form of …” in the upper-right corner.

The card designs retain the gray border of the Scarlet & Violet series, but introduce Full Art Item cards for the first time. Full Art cards of Mega Pokémon-ex show the Pokémon’s normal form in the background. Illustration cards and Special Illustration Rares also return—the latter often depict the Mega Pokémon in artistic battles together with their pre-evolutions. Brand new is the rarity “Mega Hyper Rare (MHR).” These gold cards feature exclusive illustrations and appear on average in only one out of 1,000 booster packs. In the expansion “Radiant Heroes,” you can expect new versions of Erika, N, Team Rocket, Hop, and Aoki, each with a Trainer portrait on the card. A highlight for tournament fans: the Pokémon World Championships 2026 and PokémonXP will take place in San Francisco from August 28 to 30.
